Reasons to love cycling
I have ridden a bicycle for little over a decade. I recently relocated to tier 2 city, and did cycle around for good amount of time here. Watching and learning about the city, you want to settle in, by bicycle is the perfect method.
Cycling allows more time to see much more, than any other modes of transport. I have visited many beautiful gardens, temples which were unknown to friends who use cars to travel. It definitely helps understanding your surroundings. It is easy to wander down small streets to look for houses having “to-let” or “for sale” boards. You can learn a lot about the area as traveling on pedal allows you to move much faster and allow you to see much more than that of traveling in car.
I am sure soon I find feet in new home with this method. :-)
Freedom: Obviously, you are not bound by bus timetable. You are free to go whenever and wherever you want to go. That’s freedom.
Exercise: Spending some extra time everyday has obvious health benefits, too. Cycling is a good cardio exercise. Easily you can burn approximately 500 calories in an hour. It freshens up and energizes.
Early morning rides get you some fresh air. You enjoy quietness and calmness. Ride by the farm side, the unique gift full of fresh air, is really enjoyable and nurturing.
Eco-friendly Transport: Pollution is posing a serious threat to the environment. Primarily bicycle reduce a carbon footprint so it is a carbon neutral mode of transportation. Cycling also saves lots of bucks. Considering prices of petrol, it is fine to say a cycle can pay for itself.
Fun: When you go on high speed or speed down the hill, cycling rushes your
adrenaline. It is a fun.
For a long rides, I use strava to measure cycling activity. It gives me sense of
achievement.
Since tier 2 city has less traffic, it is more safe to ride bicycle. But we need
to be careful.
